RESOURCES

Below are a few resources that I find to be very useful in the classroom. They are all free sites that I have used myself and find essential. The sites range from lesson plan ideas to activities to keep students interested. These are listed for YOUR benefit so please take advantage – you are encouraged to share your thoughts and resource suggestions in the comments below!

KHAN ACADEMY

Khan Academy is one of my FAVORITE educational resources. It is a site dedicated to furthering the education of students through short videos and lessons. Salman Khan, the owner and operator of this website, posts videos of himself (and now others) teaching lessons on all topics imaginable, and for ALL grades – that includes kindergarten and college. This is a phenomenal resource for both students and teachers and I highly recommend utilizing it.

LESSON PLANS

Lesson plans are something that teachers typically dread, and oftentimes even struggle with. This site is run by Scholastic, and offers a plethora of lesson plans, unit ideas, and general guides for the classroom. Resources are available for grades K-8.

DIY & TIPS

Many teachers, including my future self, are very passionate about DIYs in the classroom. I think that they add a bit of personal touch to the room, making the classroom as a whole feel more welcoming. This blog, A Modern Teacher, is filled to the brim with DIY ideas and tips to make your classroom shine.

KAHOOT

Kahoot is a website in which anyone can make quiz games to test knowledge or study. It is a great way to get students engaged in the lesson, as it requires the computer, phones, and interaction to get through the games. Students will be studying the content without even realizing it. This works best for high school and up, but can absolutely be utilized in other grade levels.

FUN BRAIN

Fun Brain is a great way for students to learn independently while simultaneously enjoying it. This site offers educational games for students of all ages, allowing them to work on their own but also enjoy the work they are doing. Aside from the games, they have videos and readings, too. I would recommend this site for grades K-8.

WORKSHEET GENERATOR

This website allows you to easily create worksheets for any lesson you could imagine. It will automatically generate the worksheet with a few settings that you select, as well as generate an answer key for you. With half the time and half the work, this resource is a must-use.

TEST MAKER

Though this site requires you to make an account, it is still free. It is similar to the worksheet generator (above) in that it aids greatly in the process of making a test. You put in your questions, and it will format the test and answer key for you. There are additionally pre-made worksheets that may be printed from it.
